The camp site in Wellington is well outside the city but public transportation is wonderful and half an hour later we were in the city centre.
This is the cultural capital of New Zealand with one of the largest natural museums in the world, the Te Papa, a must. So that's where we started our trip and we were happy with this choice.
One could spend a day in this museum but we chose just to see the New Zealand part which was already a lot!! We learned even more about the history of this fascinating country and spent more time than we wanted there. But it was of great value.
There is a cable car which brings you up a hill from where there is a beautiful view of the bay and the botanical garden starts there also. A wonderful garden, very well maintained, and strolling around on the path, back into the city below, we recognized some plants and trees we had seen in the country.
All plants and trees are huge here.
By the way...not only nature is "big" but much to our surprise there are a lot of extremely heavy weighted people here also. Often young people.
New Zealanders seem to be very nice people. Very interested in what you're doing or planning to do and as soon as you are stopping on the sidewalk to look on a map somebody will come towards you to ask if you need any help.
We couldn't really find a cosy restaurant. After the shops close at 5 the city starts to sleep. But we found a nice pub where we could have a drink and a bite.
We returned early as we are going to be woken up very early to catch the ferry.
Fortunately the wind almost disappeared and the sun should come back tomorrow so we will probably start the 20th anniversary of our marriage without being seasick!

Nou jongens, wat een reis tot nu toe!!!!! Heerlijk dat jullie zo genieten en zo veel zien. Wel erg ver weg hoor voor de achterblijvers!!!! Wij hebben natuurlijk niet zo veel te vertellen maar reizen met jullie mee. Frankrijk op dit moment in de giet maar niet koud. Hadden zelfs lunch buiten, nu jullie....!

Waarschijnlijk zitten jullie nu op de ferry en genieten jullie van de prachtige overtocht. Ik vond het tenminste een leuke belevenis!
Op naar de avonturen op het Zuider eiland :-)!!!!
En verder natuurlijk van harte gefeliciteerd met jullie trouwdag!!! 20 jaar.....wauw!!!
Hoop dat jullie het nog ergens kunnen vieren!

Geniet van het zuid eiland! Minder dan 1x1000000 mensen in een oppervlakte zo groot als Engeland.
Als je in de buurt van Queenstown komt kun je mogelijk John Verboeket bezoeken.
